The release date of the S6 and S6 edge looming upon us (April 10th). I thought it was now apt to write a blog post breaking down the key differences between the two smartphones.
Dimensions
Unlike the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus there is a minimal difference in size between the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.
- Galaxy S6 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8mm (5.64 x 2.77 x 0.27in) and 138g (4.86oz)
- Galaxy S6 Edge: 142.1 x 70.1 x 7mm (5.59 x 2.76 x 0.27in) and 132g (4.65oz)
Specifications
The slightly bigger display on the S6 Edge gives it a larger battery than the S6.
- Galaxy S6: 2550mAh
- Galaxy S6 Edge: 2600mAh
With regards to processor, the S6 and the S6 Edge share the same silicon, the Exynos 7420 SoC built with an 14-nanometer architecture. It includes an octa-core 64-bit (4 x 2.1GHz cores and 4 x 1.5GHz cores) with Mali-T760 GPU. Both the S6 and S6 edge have 3GB of RAM and have 32,64,128 GB storage options.
For design both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are available to buy in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, and Gold Platinum. The S6 can also be bought in a special Blue Topaz colour and the Galaxy S6 Edge in green emerald.
Price
The final key difference is the price. The phone is available for pre-order on the Samsung website with the base model 32GB Galaxy S6 setting you back to the tune of £600 and the 64GB Galaxy S6 edge costing £760.
Here at Casemade we are now accepting pre-orders on genuine leather cases and pouch sleeves for both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. All the wallet cases and covers we sell are crafted from genuine cowhide leather; our whole range is available for sale in the shop part of our site.
